Funding
Top Priorities in the Region
Habitat protection and restoration are top funding priorities for the region. For the past 20 years, the state’s Recreation and Conservation Office and the Salmon Recovery Funding Board have contributed an average of $2 million annually toward salmon habitat conservation and restoration in the upper Columbia region.
In addition to habitat funding, millions of dollars are spent on hatchery conservation programs and improvements to dam operations to help increase the survival of salmon as they travel through dams and reservoirs.
