Top Priorities in the Region

Habitat protection and restoration are top funding priorities. For the past 20 years, the region, on average, has spent about $2 million annually on salmon habitat through the state’s Recreation and Conservation Office and the Salmon Recovery Funding Board. With the addition of other funding for salmon habitat in the region, an average of $15 million has been spent annually.

In addition to habitat funding, millions of dollars are spent on hatchery conservation programs and improvements in the survival of salmon as they navigate the hydropower system.
