Harvest
Harvest is Managed
Columbia River and ocean fisheries are managed to minimize impacts on listed mid-Columbia River steelhead trout. Protective fishing regulations in the Yakima River basin prevent harvest of steelhead trout and bull trout. Recent years have seen increased efforts to eliminate poaching for both species. In the Klickitat River, recreational fishing limits are managed closely to allow catching of hatchery fish while minimizing impact to listed wild fish. At this time, fishing impacts are not considered a major factor limiting the recovery of steelhead and bull trout in this region.
